ABM kiállítás 2022

The heart of metalworking

AMB, International Exhibition for Metal Working, has become established as a top event in even years. It occupies a leading position among the exhibitions in the industry and ranks among the world’s top five events. All the world market and technology leaders come together on a total exhibition area of more than 120,000 brutto square metres to present technologies for future production. Visitors also profit, in particular, from the clear thematic hall assignment. AMB is supported by an attractive accompanying programme featuring interesting special shows. Whether you travel by air, car, rapid-transit railway or train, it is easy to reach the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre.

The biggest AMB of all time

AMB has grown constantly since 2006. The exhibitor and visitor figures reflect this. The relocation to the new trade fair grounds directly at Stuttgart Airport and the market-oriented trade fair concept have helped this development considerably. 800 companies exhibited at AMB in 2006, two years later this figure stood at 1,306. The number of visitors also jumped from 50,000 to over 85,000. In 2010 the trade fair was able to increase its exhibitor figures to 1,346, and also the number of visitors rose further with over 86,000 visitors. At the same time, the number of visitors and exhibitors coming from abroad also increased. At AMB in 2014 the number of exhibitors evened out at the high level, the number of visitors grew to over 90,000. The last AMB 2018 set a new record with a number of 1,553 exhibitors and 91.016 visitors that travelled to Stuttgart.

Exhibition focus in perfect spotlight

The exhibitors presented numerous world new hits and smart concepts in machine tools and precision tools for metal working at AMB 2018. The special: At AMB in Stuttgart visitors meet the manufacturers themselfes and not only the representatives of trade marks. The whole trade fair ground with it’s ten halls and a gross space of 120,000 sqm was occupied. Thanks to the new thematic hall planning and a visitor friendly infrastructure, it is possible to visit AMB within one day, arrival and departure included. No trade fair center has got an airport at the same campus, that is only a five minutes walk away, and in addition is perfectly connected to the motorway and the railway.

Special show for young people from the VDW-Nachwuchsstiftung

With the organisation of the SPECIAL SHOW FOR YOUNG PEOPLE the Nachwuchsstiftung Maschinenbau wanted to make young people enthusiastic about technology and a job in the machine tools industry and thus acquire skilled workers for the German engineering industry in the long run. Within the framework of guidance on career choice, the importance of the machine tools industry is being brought to the attention of young qualified professionals through targeted activities.

The “highlight” for the young people and all other stand visitors was the creation of a process chain. The process chain was used to demonstrate to students a production and design process from the drawing to assembly live on-site. The students made a Formula 1 model car. In particular the process chain helped to highlight the attractiveness and diverse education and training opportunities of the industry to young people. This positive development should be continued in the coming years with support from the partners. Everyone who builds such a racing car will show it to their friends and acquaintances in school and talk about the great day at the stand of the SPECIAL SHOW FOR YOUNG PEOPLE. This way young people become disseminators for the machine tools industry.

WorldSkills Germany

Competition between technical talents at AMB: German champions were sought among young metal cutters. Before the world championships of WorldSkills in Kazan 2019, the German championships of the WorldSkills Germany vocational competitions CNC Turning, CNC Milling and NEW polymechanics took place in Stuttgart. The best young metal cutters and mechanics demonstrated their skill in front of specialists and competed for a place on the German team in the world championships.

Joining forces, using synergy effects
Together with our members and partners we are creating a nationwide and strong, sustainable platform in the community of education networks in order to optimally promote young talent and support companies with passionate, well-trained and innovative skilled workers with international experience.
